Cooks 250th Celebrations

NZ Coastal rowing is intending to take part in the 250th celebrations in Whitianga Coromandel, marking the arrival of Captain Cook and the Bark Endeavour to New Zealand in 1769.

Thanks to Baden Pascoe preparations are well underway for a mini Raid at Whitianga starting on Thursday 17th October and finishing Tuesday 22nd.

General plan is as follows,

Thursday 17th October. Tavel to Whitianga launch and setup

Friday 18th, Row out to meet the ships coming in.

Saturday 19th, Partake in the celebrations on the water.

Sunday 20th, Row up to Coroglen, Te Kawhonga landing.

Monday 21st, Row out to Cooks bluff.

Tuesday 22nd, Pack up and return home.

Baden has pre-booked 12 sites at the Harbourside holiday park and has organised for the Skiffs to be safely tied up in the Whitianga Marina on display.

    • Robert, you’d be way better off just to fly over and borrow some of Mikes boats, Its not like we don’t have plenty !
